How long will I stay at Mystic Healthcare?

While each individual patient’s length of stay will be different, many short-term rehab patients are discharged within 30 days.

What happens when it is time to leave Mystic Healthcare?

When your care team feels that you have gained maximal mobility and are able to return home, the social worker and discharge planner will facilitate discharge. A multi-disciplinary Care Conference is held with family members to ensure that everyone is in agreement with the course of action recommended. The discharge planner will schedule any needed services, such as home health care and outpatient therapy, if necessary.

What is the admission process like?

Many patients are referred to Mystic Healthcare prior to undergoing elective surgery. Mystic Healthcare maintains close working relationships with many orthopedic, cardiac and neurosurgery practices. Prior to surgery, patients are welcome to visit Mystic Healthcare to meet with an admissions representative for a tour and to reserve a room.

Other patients are referred to Mystic Healthcare from the hospital when it becomes apparent that they are not yet well enough to successfully return home.

What types of patients go to Mystic Healthcare?

A variety of conditions brings patients to Mystic Healthcare. Many come for post-surgical rehab, to ensure that after joint replacement surgery, for example, they get the physical therapy they need to return home physically able to resume normal activities to the highest possible level.

Other patients are admitted from local hospitals with a variety of medically complex issues. The skilled nursing staff at Mystic Healthcare is well equipped to handle even the most seriously debilitated patients.

What types of services are provided at Mystic Healthcare?

In addition to basic skilled nursing services, physical therapy, and occupational and speech therapy, Mystic Healthcare provides IV therapy, wound care, and other skilled services to meet every patient’s needs. The Stroke Rehabilitation Program led by neurologist Neer Zevi, MD, provides specialized services and therapies for patients who have suffered a stroke.
